March Relish

Ever find a card that says exactly what you want to convey?  It’s as if the author of the card knew your inner most thoughts and emotions.  Well that’s exactly how I felt when I read my last transmission of positive thoughts for the month of February. The site positivethoughtsandmore.com is a wonderful website that post (or emails should you subscribe) encouraging positive thoughts to brighten your day…very similar to our Monday Minute.  I had been brooding over the theme for the month of March and when I read the words of Jean Wilson, author of the last positive thought post for February, I knew that transformation was it!

NO MORE SMALLING UP OF ME:

by Jean Wilson

No more meekly saying ‘yes’
When my heart is screaming ‘no’
No more taming of my feelings
So my power won’t show
No more hiding my exuberance
From disapproving eyes
No more watering down myself
So my spirit won’t rise

No more ‘smalling up’ of me
Pretending I am not here
No more running from the music
And the spotlight’s glare
No more living in this prison
Barricaded by my fears
No more turning and retreating
In the face of new frontiers

Even as I am speaking
I am taking shape and form
Harnessing my powers
Like a gathering storm
There’s no obstacle so bold
As to dare stand in my way
I am taking back my life
And I am doing it today.

I read this and was overwhelmed with a renewed spirit. March is the time of year when we spring clean; purposely get rid of old things while making room for new and we eagerly look forward to the end of weather induced hibernation. Just as things in nature that were once dormant emerge with vitality, beauty, and purpose so will I.

Jean, although we’ve never met, I thank you for your words.  In being transparent and expressing your yourself,  you’ve inspired me.

xoxo,

~Michaela Jenean

Much Adu about LOVE

Valentine’s Day is one of many commodified holidays grossly advertised for the sole intent of making money…in this case, construct LOVE is the commodity. Clearly, people have no problem financially expressing their “LOVE,” as Valentine’s Day is an 18 billion dollar business. The flowers die, the candy gets eaten up, and the lingerie gets destroyed in a couple minutes, but what happens to the LOVE? Is it sustained? Was it ever there? Like many constructs: an idea or theory containing various conceptual elements, typically considered to be subjective and not based on empirical evidence, love can be difficult to define. January Relish

jan-relishCold blistering temperatures, howling winds, ice, snowstorms, slick roads, school and flight cancellations etc.… are very common during month of January. Such extreme temperatures definitely impact our daily duties. Things that were once simple now require time and planning. For example, leaving to go anywhere is now a twenty minute ordeal as you have warm up the car, put on layers of clothes before leaving, and drive slowly.

Yes, winter blues has the ability to set in and damper one’s spirit but as the saying goes, the cup is half empty or half full…perception being the determining factor. I choose to see the glass half full and face January with a recrudescent attitude and relish in activities that warm me spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Continue reading
